Somatization disorders: the need for appropriate care and follow-up

2000-03-30 - The aim of this study was to determine the role played by the somatization disorders (SD) in a group of patients affiliated with French Social Security in the Vienne who manifested higher than average overall consumption of medical ressources and who frequently consulted a number of different physicians at the same time (representing 3.6% of the patient population and receiving 14% of all the reimbursements for care) and also to evaluate the quality of care received by patients afflicted with this disorder, to find an explanation for the insufficient care they received and finally, to propose solutions for improving future care.

Evaluation of the results of a drug-maintenance program with high-dose-buprenorphine by a health care network

The impact of a change in the indications of a drug (Atrium®) on daily medical practice

2000-03-30 - In 1997, the therapeutic indications of the drug Atrium® were restricted to alcohol withdrawal, with accompanying reductions in recommended dose and treatment duration. An explanatory pamphlet was distributed to practicing physicians by the drug company concerned.
